Im not directing this at anyone inparticular, however if you get that warm feeling over your body when reading this you may want to consider your actions.
When I first joined shroomotopia at the beggining of last year this was a cool place, a chilled out one, somewhere you came when all the other OMC's blackballed you or made you feel like you werent going anywhere in mycology, ever.. There was alot of helping and ZERO bashing about any subject. If a noob was a little out of line, we tried to correct them without hurting his or her feelings while still maintaining a firm grip on where this site is going.
Everyone talks about bein "FAMILY" but to tell you the truth shroomotopia is starting to feel less and less like home every day, and when you dont feel at home, you dont feel like those that are there are family at all.
Alot of times its easy to misinturprit something said online, and for someone just joining that could be the end of there time spent at shroomotopia.
My point to all this random bullshit is---
We all used to talk about how great shroomotopia is because its not like any other OMC out there, but the truth is we're turning into the shadow of the OMC's that shroomotopia members are derived from, a crude place that seems dark at times..

+1 the reason im still here is because of the general helpfulness kindness and understanding that i've only found here out of the countless omc's im registered on. this is the only one i visit anymore

That has got to be the best post i have read in a long time. We are here to help all of us new and old members no mater what is being asked. We all were newbs at one time and i am damm lucky to have found this place. We all share something. we love to work with shrooms and that makes us the same. There is so much to learn with this hoby and i for one have not even come close to becoming a pro.
So please everyone lets do are best to share and be helpfull and kind so we dont end up like outher OMC. We are Topians and should be proud that we are difrent. PEACE YARDDOG

Why would someone not want to help out noobs, I love giving prints and advise to people in need. Hell, I wish I would have came here before going to the Shroomery. I would be a lot farther then i am right now. I still learn new shit every day but its nice to know something that I can pass on. I have seen a couple of incidents but they were stopped quick. Us members who give a shit will not let people come here and start talking shit, we say something when we see it. Saying that, I dont think we could ever turn into what the other sites are like.

.I know when i first started i didnt know what the hell i was doing or honestly i didnt know what a casing was.I started at myco and felt like shit when i asked a question and then get slamed by their members for not knowing better just because they knew.I have to admit it made me feel like shit and made me feel stupid when honestly it was the members being Aholes to me.I was at myco for a yr and to be honest when i joined here i STILL didnt know the differnce between a casing and the sub and all that stuff.It was when i joined here when i got all my help from peeps like jig,limeaid,wikid,GOB,Livewire420 and quit afew others.Ive been here for over a yr now or close to it and look at me now.Ive learned more here in 2months then i did elsewhere for a yr and thats the gods honest truth.
Its easy to forget we were ALL newbies at 1 time and needed help from others to get to where we are now.There really hasnt been MAJOR issues here but IMHO we are getting a little to crazy with newbs here and i think there has been a few peeps that needs to step back and remember what its like to be a newbie trying to learn all the stuff we know now.I thank you and all the rest of the members that has helped me here GOB to get where im at now.Sometimes we take things the wrong way and get butthole hurt over it when we shoul STOP and think before we post stuff.Its just like you said GOB we are infront of a computer and have all the time in the world to post a responce.
To be tottally honest im the 1 that started the FAMILY thing if i remember right and it was honestly because im a juggalo and i was saying family to my juggalos and juggalets that was here and people picked up the FAMILY word from there and BAM we all of a sudden became a tighter family then i ever thought we would.I know ALOT of people NOW carries the FAMILY word not even knowing it was a juggalo thing.

Maybe I need to read more but so far I have not seen a mean or condescending post... I hope that I haven't made any... I may have seen it all and I have seen the wheel re:re:re: reinvented many times over but, I still get excited when someone new discovers something. I don't post much anymore but I love the new growers, I love the excitement that they have and it reminds me of my first grows and all that I learned and saw.
Please people, don't be mean to the young mycologists/horticulturists - Embrace them and teach them. Share your stories and wisdom. Teach, as have you been taught. Our friends (allies) teach us and we learn. From our allies we must learn, that everyone is significant, that we are all new and old... our purpose is to share, to teach and to learn. Treat those around you as you would treat yourself. The golden rule is: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you... I am not a Christian but, it is a good rule. Haters... just go sit in your corner and do unto yourself... whatever you want - if you want. Time is short and we all must grow - grow to live/live to grow.

I feel ya GOB. I take great pleasure in helping noobs. You never forget the first person who gave you some solid advice, and didn't shit on you when you asked a question, and instead taught you a little something. To tell the truth I only stop in over at ShroomTalk to help out noobs, lol. I feel bad for alot of em. You find Noobs shitting on other noobs when they don't even know what they are talking about in the first place, and I can't stand it so I try to chime in and be the voice of reason. I don't get to help out much here because everyone else is so helpful, lol. I'm not bashing ST tho I hate some of the shit that goes on over there. It is what it is, and shroomotopia is home. I think it makes a huge difference that this isn't a support forum.

I am,,and always will be a newb! You dont stop learning unless you want to.This site is the cool school of growing.I checked out a couple of other omc's and I love this site.I was welcome w/w open arms and try to return the favors.This is also not just another omc.We talk about and help w/ crap thats going on in each others live's.Were else can you go and not pay 75.00 an hour for therapy.And Kush,I was a juggalo.I have also got a little hot under the collar w/ a couple posts and shortly after PM'ed the people and appologised if I thought I said anything wrong.But that was in Talkin sh!t.We gotta stick together.For alot of folks this IS the only FAMILY they have.GOB,Thanx for the post Bro.

Well to some degree we can't help but be like some of the OMC's but it is the respect factor and the family thing that sets us apart. We all come together to help eachother despite all being pretty broke-ass at the moment....but I don't want to see this place ever turn into a place where people get criticized for questions or just wanting to know.
There are lots of mods but there are still times when there are no mods on and that was what I was trying to stop....so there will always be at least one mod or admin on at all times. I will start advertising again soon but that gets us members from shroomery which usually need to be re-trained so there will always be work to do and problems to overcome....but we can do it. You all need to make the decision to treat people with respect, whether they deserve it or not, that will determine if this place exists or not.
I expect to see some changes once we start the Bible study but I assume we will lose some too, sadly enough....just do your best everyone and make an effort to help and/or contribute as much as possible....we can make it, I believe in ALL of YOU!!!
